This log cabin lodge
and property - just outside the city limits of the Upper Peninsula’s thriving
main city - combines a unique setting and a multitude of opportunity.
Built in 1994, but just completing an extensive renovation, this 4100 square
foot home’s location provides access to both a popular local lake and the
world’s largest body of fresh water – Lake Superior, or Gitchee Gumee as
the Ojibwa called it. A river flowing from the inland lake enables
a wonderful kayak/canoe trip to the great lake, reminiscent of the French
explorers of the 1700’s. With over 8 acres of land and a multitude
of year-around recreation and nature surrounding it, this lodge/ property
will provide a wonderful get-away for owners and visitors alike!
Along with the lodge
is an outbuilding that houses an oversize garage and a Studio apartment above
the garage. Both buildings are situated on a 1 acre parcel of land.
This offering includes an additional 7.3 acres of adjacent land that provides
399 feet of frontage along an inland lake. Currently this land is being
further cleared to make a path to the lake and a boardwalk is being built
along that route.
On the first floor are
the kitchen, living room with a stone fireplace, several bedrooms and a bathroom.
Rooms have been developed with openness in mind, a theme that is seen throughout.
On the upper level is
a balcony area for relaxation, more bedrooms and baths. A large master
suite has both a private bath and a garden tub for two.
A lower level has a
large recreational room with a bar area, a Finnish Sauna, two additional
bedrooms - one with bunk beds for the youth – and a bathroom.
Owners Quarters may
be in any of several areas, including the studio apartment above the garage
in the outbuilding, or on one of the levels of the Lodge, depending on owner
preference.
Not only does this lodge
offer many activities to attract environmental and recreational enthusiasts
– it also has an agreement with the premier hotel in town to work in concert
with it to offer rooms in a more natural / rustic setting.
